Elements & Principals Of Design

Elements of Design

line: A line is very basic and it connects two points and can create spaces between elements.

Color: Color Conveys the emotion of a picture like as an example pink can convey love in a picture and red can convey more of an aggressive look.

Shape: A shape is created when a line connects with another line to close an area, different shapes can have different meaning like for instance more pointy shapes can be interpreted as aggressive as flat/smooth shapes may not be as aggressive looking.

Size: Size of an object/shape displays how tall or wide it would/could be in real proportions as an example if you have an image full of skyscrapers the smaller they are could represent that they are farther away from where the image was created.

Space: Space goes along with size but the difference is the spacing of it shows how close each shape is to each other.

Value: Value is just how light or how dark an image is

Texture: Texture shows the detail of an object it shows like if there is a crack you can see in a look at how deep it is.

Direction: Direction is used to make the illusion of moment in an image.

Principals of Design

Contrast: Contrast is used to make an object stand out from all the other parts of the image.

Alignment: Alignment is exactly as it sounds it is when parts of an image is lined up to be symmetrical or to have everything in a neat order.

Repetition: when stuff is repeated in a pattern on a image it is nice to look at or visually appealing and grabs the users attention.

Proximity: Proximity is just how close one element is to another.

Balance: Balance is When you are able to balance everything visually on your image.

White Space: White space is just everything on the image that isn't filled in.

Harry The Platypus

This image incorporates colors and contrast. The contrast in the image makes Harry in the image stand out due to the brighter colors on Harry compared to the background colors.

Unique Creatures

This image incorporates shapes and white space which improves the image because the shapes make up the creatures and the white space shows that there is space between the two creatures
