I chose this theme because I enjoy taking pictures of the nature environment, especially ocean/water-based photos. The ocean is a very nice place to take photos due to its simplicity and how calming even a photo can be of an ocean. I didn’t use any editing techniques partially due to photoshop not working on my computer, but also because I feel the photos, I chose to use for filled exactly what I was looking for in a nature photo without any editing. For how I took the photos, I didn’t really have a set way as to how I was doing them, but I feel picture that focus on either balance, rule of thirds or simplicity work the best for me, especially since the ladder of the two I listed are focusing on a subject. I came up with the ideas based on enjoying watching the waves on the ocean crashing up against the rocks of the shore, and if taken right, a photo can capture that moment fairly well as seen in a couple of my chosen photos. The only problems I encountered with the photos were waiting for the correct time to take the photos just to get the image to look good, as well as having to pick ten good photos from the list of at least 25 of them. For planning I had a look at Ansel Adam’s photos because he was heavy in having nature photos, I find the way he took photos with the leading lines or the rule of thirds being very inspirational as to how I decided to take the photos for this project. I didn’t have to adapt much to make these photos work due to me already trying to get the certain compositions to work anyways, it was just a bonus that that is also how he took his photos.
